CRC Software Design
The Studying Professional Software Design workshop brought together participants from various communities, including software engineering, design studies, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, and psychology, in order to consider the role of software design both in the software development process in the larger design context. Its goal was to collect a foundational set of observations and insights into software design, drawing on theories and methods from a variety of research disciplines. The workshop focused on the analysis of a common data set: videos and transcripts of software design sessions by three pairs of professional software designers, working on the conceptual design of a software system. The dialogues begun at the workshop continue, and an edited book and associated journal special issues are in preparation.
