Theme: Ubiquitous Computing
Funding Agency: EPSRC
Period: 2007-2009

The UbiComp Grand Challenge Community involved multidisciplinary and international collaborations between world-leading ubiquitous computing researchers at 9 UK universities who discussed and articulated the new challenges of Ubiquitous Computing. A number of public engagements were held where key demonstrators of Ubiquitous Computing were experienced by the general public, drawing on the results of ongoing projects.  A highlight was the week long Ubiquitous Computing Spring School  held in Nottingham in April 2009 where over a 100 students worldwide attended and over 20 academics took part. Another event was the Ubiquitous Computing at a Crossroads: art, science, politics and design workshop took place in January 2009 at  Imperial College London.

The UbiComp Grand Challenge made a series of awards for Early Career Exchanges, Bridging Fellowships and Research Training Camps and Technology Camps. A main output that biComp Grand Challenge partners contributed to was the Microsoft Research manifesto report outlining: 'Human values key to the development of new technologies'
