Meeting Room 10, 2nd Floor, JLB
12:30pm - 13:45pm
Janet van der Linden, Mike Richards, Arosha Bandara, Neil Smith, Adrian Jackson, David Bowers, Gerd Kortuem, Marian Petre
This lunch-time seminar is an opportunity for the department to share information about the various strands of activities that are going on within the department relating to the very hot topic of computing in schools. We will briefly report on the national landscape of computing in schools and government and media interest in this issue; reflect on the teaching approach of TU100, and then members of the department will talk about a number of ongoing initiatives that could be described as TU100 ‘spin-offs’, ranging from UCL Outreach workshops, collaborations with Raspberry Pi, Scratch workshops, paper writing, CAS - Conference for Teachers of Computing, and anything else that people want to bring to the table.
