Demystifying open access publishing

Time: 12:30pm - 13:45pm
Speaker(s): Nicola Dowson - Library Services OU & Nadine Lewycky - Research Strategy Office

Confused about gold and green open access publishing? Would you like to know about the ways in which open access publishing and changing funder policies including the HEFCE Policy for the next REF could impact on how and where you publish? This session will give an overview of the open access landscape and the OU’s Open Access Policy which was agreed by Research Committee in March. BIO: Nicola Dowson I am the Library Services Manager responsible for research support services; these include Open Research Online (ORO), Open Access Publishing and Research Data Management. I was a member of the Open Access working group that developed the OU’s Open Access Policy and am working with RSQ Unit to implement the Open Access Policy. Nadine Lewycky I am the Senior Manager, Research Strategy and Planning in the Research Strategy Office. I am responsible for managing the university’s submission to the Research Excellence Framework, and for developing and implementing the Open Access policy.
